DORM MOVING CHECKLIST

A student dormitory is a place that can become a second home for you, as long as you take into account the rules of residence and use the tips for filling your suitcase. That is why we have created this checklist for moving into a dorm for freshmen not to forget anything at home.

FURNITURE

The dorm rooms have everything you need: beds, bedside tables, cabinets, chairs, and shelves. We recommend adding a desk lamp to the checklist for moving into college dorms. As a student, vision often begins to fail. The reason for this can be poor lighting and a heavy load on the eyes. Take care of your health in advance. Once the checklist for moving out of state appears, get to know your roommates at least in absentia. It will be much easier if you discuss all the aspects of housing in advance. After all, everyone does not have to take a full set of dishes or a hair dryer, for example. Some people can add a carpet or curtains to moving out of state for college checklist. WHAT TO SLEEP ON?

The rooms have the necessary furniture, which means that it’s time to think about bedding as a part of moving into dorm checklist. The dorms have also taken care of this and offer to take clean and fresh linen on the spot. You will be able to change the linen as needed, so there will be one less problem with laundry. Blankets, bedspreads, and pillows are usually provided upon request. If you don’t want to use what is provided, you may bring a pillow, a blanket, a set of bed linen, and a plaid from home. Also, take a set of towels to your moving into a dorm checklist. In some dorms, they simply do not give them out or give out small ones. Besides, pay attention to how many laundry items you may need:

• 2 sets of sheets and pillowcases. Check with the college for the size needed — some college twin beds are extra long.
• 3 towels (each for bath, hand, and face)

KITCHEN UTENSILS

Dishes are one of the most important attributes of student life. There is not much space for it in the rooms, and it is better not to take a new or very expensive frying pan. Prepared the dorm move-in checklist that is sure to put in the bag, if you have not agreed in advance with the neighbors, as we have advised:

• Kettle (for the stove, in almost all hostels electric kettles are prohibited)
• Cups (preferably 2, for yourself and a friend)
• Cutlery and teaspoons, forks, knives, cutting board, grater
• Pair of plates (deep dish or soup bowl, flat plates)
• Containers for bulk products detergent
• Paper towels
• Trash bags
• Lightbulbs
• All-purpose cleaner
• Plastic storage bags

• Can/bottle opener

As for irons, almost all hostels have a household room and laundry room, but laundry can be paid for. You can bring a hair dryer, but one per room, and in some hostels the situation is the same with irons: one per room.

PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS

The dorm shower is a “spa” for the next couple of years, not only for you but also for the neighbors in the block, floor, or dorm. So, do not forget to add these items to your dorm moving checklist:

• Shampoo and conditioner
• Hairstyling products
• Bath and face soap
• Razor and shaving cream
• Lotion and/or facial moisturizer
• Travel soap container(s)
• Toothpaste and toothbrush
• Dental floss
• Comb/brush
• Shower caddy
• Shower shoes (flip-flops)
• Tweezers
• Nail clippers
• Hair dryer/straightener/curling iron
• Cotton swabs

CLOTHING

The choice of clothing at university is much easier than at school: freestyle. Take your favorite jeans, T-shirt, and sneakers. We also advise taking a set of clothes “to go out”, just in case you have to go somewhere:). To be on-trend in “dorm” fashion, you can safely bring shorts, t-shirts, an old tracksuit, or comfortable pajamas with slippers! If you prefer packing according to the checklist for moving into dorm, add the following apparel to your suitcase:

• Underwear
• Socks
• Pants/jeans
• Shirts/blouses
• Sweats
• Pajamas
• Slippers and/or flip-flops
• Sweaters
• Light/heavy jackets
• Gloves/scarf/hat (and other foul-weather gear as needed)

ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCES

A refrigerator is as necessary attribute in a move-in day checklist as a bed: without it, life in the dorm cannot be considered comfortable. The easiest option is when the refrigerator is provided by the dormitory, a slightly more complicated situation when there is none. So there are two options: bring it from home or rent it. You can bring your own only if you have all the necessary documents and if it is not older than 10 years.

Remember to add the extension cords to your moving into college dorm checklist, they should be only with a surge protector. A laptop for the modern student is a must-have. First-year student not only writes down lectures but also makes presentations, notes, essays, and reports. Writing materials and notebooks certainly fulfill their functions perfectly but sometimes this is not enough. A printer will also not be superfluous. Printing prices, to put it mildly, “bite”. Often dorms organize such “printing centers” because this is the best way to save time and money.

First Aid Kit

Freshmen always forget it and remember only when it is really needed. There are times when it is not necessary to go to the doctor for medical help: a headache, a small abrasion, or a bruise – it is enough to drink the right medicine or treat a wound. We advise gathering a first-aid kit for all occasions: from bandages and hydrogen peroxide to vitamins and aspirin, Add a thermometer to your college apartment move-in checklist, and do not forget that with any serious symptoms it is better to consult a doctor. Some dorms have a medical center.
